About Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity

As an AmeriCorps member with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, you can serve in a leadership role on an active build site or in the office assisting families, volunteers, and staff. By taking on new challenges and seeing the results of your service, you will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and have some fun along the way.

Service opportunities range from full year to three-month summer positions. AmeriCorps members are integral to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s mission of bringing people together to create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership.

  • Provide support to construction site supervisor
  • Facilitate on-site educational activities with volunteers
  • As needed and assigned, lead crews of volunteers and homebuyers on the construction site
  • Participate in AmeriCorps-related activities as assigned, including orientations and national events
  • Complete administrative responsibilities
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned construction vehicle

Essential Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • A U.S. Citizen or U.S. National or a lawful permanent resident
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Not served two terms of service within AmeriCorps already (with some exceptions)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Successfully pass background and fingerprint checks
  • Must submit contact information for one professional reference
  • I traded my work computer for a pickup truck, my programs for a tool belt, and my mouse and keyboard for a hammer and pry bar. I learned how to measure twice and cut once, paint and repaint walls, and use a stud finder all without any prior construction experience. I also learned how to manage and help volunteers on site…Even my worst days on site are still better than the best days I ever had at the office.” – Christopher, former Habitat for Humanity member

AmeriCorps members also love serving with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity because with Habitat for Humanity, they can:
